According to police, Misri Shah police ordered Raju to stop at a temporarily-set up, while he did not stop and ran away. Police opened the fire, killing Raju on the spot.
After the incident, family of the deceased staged protest and chanted slogans against the police.
Punjab Chief Minister has also taken the notice of the incident and sought report.
